BASEL OFFICE - Business Solutions Manager Ocean

Viking is a strong and dynamic company - with a growing fleet of more than 80 river ships and seven ocean vessels cruising over 100 itineraries around the world. In 2022, our guests will experience all the comfort and elegance of our award-winning fleet with two expedition ships built specifically to explore the world's most remote destinations. We will also expand our operations to the U.S. with the addition of a new Mississippi River ship.

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The IT Onboard Operations team plays an integral role in the strategy, architecture, design/acquisition, implementation, and management of various business applications and software solutions to enable planning, efficient operation, automation, and reporting needs of the company.

As a key member of the Oceans IT operations team, the Business Solutions Manager will be overseeing all digital transformation initiatives onboard our Ocean Ships. S/he coordinates and supervises all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of different technologies, including defining the business case, determining specifications, developing a roadmap, and time-integrated plans for delivery, piloting and implementation of those solutions.

This role is based in our Operational Headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. Please note that we can only accept applicants who are eligible to work in Switzerland or in possession of a valid work permit.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Specifying business solution projects and associated tasks in accordance with strategic priorities
  • You will work directly with our onboard Operations, Finance, Controlling, Land Operations, and HR teams to develop and implement these strategies on time
  • You’ll gain a deep understanding of the end-user experience and generate new ideas that address unmet needs and/or pain points as well as delight customers
  • Defining the business case for new solutions based on operative research and end-user feedback
  • Developing and monitoring KPIs that judge the overall effectiveness of our Solutions
  • You will be responsible for project budget management and evaluating technology vendors
  • Collaborating with onboard operations to define necessary processes and training models to support solution execution
  • Developing creative use cases, storyboards, and process flows to ideate mobility solutions
  • You will be leading and managing internal and external teams to execute multiple projects related to onboard systems.
  • Growing the technical capabilities onboard our ships in line with Vikings’ business strategy

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • You bring 5+ years of experience in Technology Delivery and technical program management
  • You have proven working experience in developing and delivering products using agile methodologies
  • You are a problem solver as well as innovator, who looks for ideas and innovative solutions through analytics, technology trends, audience insights, and brand/marketing strategies
  • Unique combination of attention to detail, excellent organization skills, creativity, and out-of-the-box thinking
  • A dynamic, hands-on person, capable of instilling a passion for excellence, adherence to deadlines, mentoring the team, and driving accountability and success
  • Preferably, you bring knowledge of the cruise, airline, or hospitality industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical information to a non-technical audience and executive leaders
  • You are passionate about working in the tourism industry
  • Ability to understand business requirements and manage priorities
  • You have skills in creating well-defined tasks from business requirements, having in mind its priority and complexity, as well as the impact on current systems
