BASEL OFFICE - Business Solutions Project Manager

  • As a key member of the Business Solutions and IT organization, you will be a key player in our digital transformation initiatives onboard our Ships and across our global offices
  • You coordinate and supervise all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of different organizational information systems and software applications as well as defining the business case, determining specifications, developing roadmap and time-integrated plans for delivery, piloting solutions.
  • The Business Solutions Manager reports to the Director Business Solutions



  • You will be an integral part and leader within the Business Solutions team to drive new process and solution implementations across the Viking Cruises’ fleet operations
  • You will translate the solutions strategy and vision into detailed business requirements, process changes, prototypes and design plans
  • You will  work directly with our onboard operations (Hotel, Land and Nautical), procurement, finance, controlling and HR teams to document requirements and develop a business case
  • You will gain a deep understanding of the end user experience and generate new ideas that address unmet needs and/or pain points as well as delight customers
  • You will develop creative use cases, storyboards, and process flows to ideate solutions
  • You will identify (in-house vs. external) and evaluate suitable solutions/technologies that best meet Viking’s requirements
  • You will define the relevant business solution projects and associated tasks in accordance with strategic priorities
  • You will manage end-to-end implementations including development phase, agile sprints (using JIRA Software), user acceptance testing until Go Live and hand over to Support
  • You will develop and monitor KPI’s that judge the overall effectiveness of our solutions
  • You will team with internal and external IT resources to evaluate, select and implement technology solutions
  • You will collaborate with other functional areas to define necessary processes and training models to support solutions execution



  • You bring three to six years in a similar role with a minimum of 2 years in project management, requirements or development tools; proven working experience in developing and delivering products using agile methodologies
  • You have managed at least two end-to-end projects within the domains of, but not limited to, ERPs, CRMs, Integrations tools, Collaboration tools, Content Management systems, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and/or Robotic Process Automation
  • You are experienced in Business and Data Analysis, especially in deconstructing complex problems and finding solutions
  • You have a proven ability to drive, develop and document a clear vision for the use of existing Business Applications in support of business requirements
  • You are able to translate business requirements into technical specifications and are able to conceptualize the dynamics of the solution proposed to visualize the end result
  • You are experienced in requirements gathering and documentation, use case development and solution development
  • Relevant experience from either a leading company in the hospitality sector or a leading IT or management consulting firm or ERP solution provider preferred
  • You have a strong drive for executing a vision through process re-engineering and technology solutions
  • You are able to prioritize, direct and complete work in a hectic environment with significant attention to detail
  • You are able of reprioritizing efforts to meet dynamic workload and schedule shifts
  • You are passionate about initiating and driving projects from beginning to end with minimal guidance
  • You have a background in both business and IT, and a very good understanding of SQL (SQL query skills are a must). To complement your SQL skills, you possess strong analytical skills
  • You are proficient in using Microsoft Office tools including Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • You are excited to learn and/or invest time in learning new technologies that fall within the domains of, but not limited to, ERPs, CRMs, Integrations tools, Collaboration tools, Content Management systems, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and/or Robotic Process Automation



  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business or IT and/or relevant Engineering streams



  • Scrum Master or Project Management Certification (PMP or PRINCE2) is a plus
  • Experience in managing projects using Scrum and Kanban boards using JIRA Software is a plus
  • Any experience in supply chain (P2P or O2C) related projects is a plus
  • You are early in your career and eager to learn, have a can-do mindset and are excited about driving change in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of the hospitality industry is preferred but not required
  • You are excited about working in the cruise industry and are willing to work with various business teams and are comfortable and patient with varied stakeholder groups
