BASEL OFFICE - Junior Recruiter - Culinary

Role Description

  • As a key member of the Recruiting team the Junior Recruiter will work closely with the Recruiting Manager to ensure a steady pipeline of accepted candidates over all vacant positions on all vessels
  • The Junior Recruiter will maintain a healthy relationship with our partner agencies and represents Viking Ocean Cruises as an Employer of Choice within the cruise industry
  • The Junior Recruiter will report to the Senior Manager Recruiting
  • Travel within this position is between 50 and 60 per cent, worldwide


Key Responsibilities

  • You will verify recruiting profiles & selection criteria with all involved departments
  • You will regularly update recruiting requirements based on operational needs and following HR policy
  • You will manage and update the application pool database
  • You will keep overview and tidiness throughout the entire recruiting process from application to hiring stage
  • You will support the Recruiting Manager to maintain the candidate resource pool
  • You will conduct personal and video interviews for onboard crew and managers
  • You will organize and execute cooking trials and assessment centers (location planning, communication with recruiting agencies worldwide, screening, selection, interviews, statistics)
  • You will participate in recruiting events worldwide with our partner agencies following SOP’s and company standards
  • You will maintain business relationships with a trusted network of high-quality recruiting agencies in all relevant markets
  • You will support defining measures to establish employer branding in the relevant markets in close coordination with global marketing
  • You will research competitor conditions, visa requirements & industry trends (Benchmarking)
  • You will follow defined recruiting processes in an effective & efficient manner to ensure given budgets and optimize if necessary
  • You will ensure adequate reporting of recruiting status quo & measures



  • Background in a middle management culinary position, preferably with 5* and international experience
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent computer knowledge Microsoft Office (Word and Excel proficiency required); SharePoint, SuccessFactors recruiting are asset
  • Excellent organizational skills, service-oriented and client-focused
  • Ability to set priorities to given tasks, multi-tasking
  • A self-starter with a can-do mindset and complete attention to detail
  • Open to multi-cultural work environment



  • You have an Education in Culinary studies



  • Flexibility and stress resistance, team player, commitment, positive personality, professional appearance
  • Additional languages are a plus
