BASEL OFFICE - Manager Nautical - Planning

PURPOSE OF POSITION

For the complement of our Nautical Operations department, we are looking for a Nautical Manager – Planning.

This role is based in our Operational Head Office in Basel, Switzerland. Please note that we can only accept applicants who are eligible to work in Switzerland or in possession of a valid work permit.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The team of Nautical Managers is responsible for supporting the operations of the nautical department, including tasks connected to office support and data analytics, supporting the daily operation, compliance, recruitment, and training. The exact tasks and projects are distributed to the team members and may change regularly.

 

As Nautical Manager - Planning, your responsibilities include:

 

  • Overall responsibility for scheduling the Nautical crew operation:
    • ensuring that the manning and planning of the nautical crew are compliant with legal obligations in terms of licenses and certificates
    • managing crew work periods and keeping these updated in the scheduling software
    • actively managing work and holiday balances of nautical employees and taking them into account when scheduling assignments
    • operating the scheduling tool: Viking Planner Portal
    • maintain communication with the Captains and Officers and Crew, care for their wellbeing
    • frequent ship visits and maintaining of mutually beneficial relationships
    • handling diverse requests and crew questions in the best interest of Viking Cruises
    • exchange information and work together with Corporate Captains and Senior Manager – Nautical Operations
  • interface between other departments in the Basel office and Infrastructure Operations River

 

Currently, we are looking for a candidate who could focus on the Rhine / Main / Danube operation. Besides also projects, the Nautical Manager - RMD is expected to help with other implementations and daily operations as per needs.
