BASEL OFFICE - Operations & Development Analyst (Purchasing)

The Operations & Development Analyst will support the strategic analytics, reporting and process improvement for the Global Purchasing for River, Ocean & Expedition. The scope of the department is food, beverage, consumables, and durables.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
- The role’s key focus will be on conducting in-depth root cause analysis of purchasing operations and build solid fact bases for sourcing key categories (analytics and insights), as well as develop, design and help implement actionable solutions (operations transformation)
- The tasks will mainly resolve around spend and savings analytics, identifying new opportunities, process optimization and design as well as implementation support
- The Operations & Development Analyst will report directly to the Director Purchasing
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will support the Director Purchasing in strategy development for the department
- You will lead analytics work on market trends on the categories under scope, forecasting, spend and saving analysis, supplier performance, freight optimization, develop internal and external KPIs, etc.
- You will help identify opportunities to improve processes, tools and reports across sourcing and logistics for River, Ocean and Expedition
- You will provide root cause and data analysis on identified opportunities
- You will collaborate with all hierarchy levels across the organization in building improvement solutions and implementation plans
- You will lead the work to prepare all material for internal executive updates, quarterly/annual supplier meetings, 3-to-5-year framework contract negotiations, etc.
- Some travel within Europe may be required
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-3 years job experience after graduation
- Relevant analytical experience from either a leading company in the hospitality industry (Travel, Leisure, Hotels and Catering), or a leading management or operations consulting firm
- Knowledge of the hospitality industry is preferred but not required
- Strong analytical and modeling skillset, with proven track record
- Top-down communicator with a strong logical mindset
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in either Engineering or Business Administration
NICE TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work independently, and prioritize allocation of time across multiple projects
- Knowledge of business operations, including lean operations and/or Six Sigma, purchasing and procurement excellence, performance management, and basic change management
