Description The gangway team is a member of the hospitality department with the responsibility of assisting all guests while transiting on/off the vessel, assisting with luggage during embarkation, and ensuring all sanitation is disposed of. The member also participates in hotel operations and emergencies, always including the well-being of the passengers and crew members while on duty. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Responsible for the general appearance of the gangway/embarkation area keeping them safe, clean, and presentable • Actively participates in embarking duties such as loading, unloading, luggage carrying, stores, etc., as needed • Actively assist all guests while transiting the gangway / transiting to motorcoaches • Assists vessel sanitation by managing the disposal of garbage, waste, or compost duties • Make hospitality standards an important part of day-to-day duties • Respond to all General Alarms and emergency situations per station billet • Comply with safety regulations and operating procedures • Perform any duties or tasks deemed necessary by the Gangway Lead or Officers • Maintain personal berthing area in accordance with company policy • Always maintain a professional appearance: always complying with uniform and grooming standards • Participate and ensure participation in all USCG-mandated drills and emergency procedures as directed • Performs other duties if required since above stated describe only a regular working day and may not be inclusive of every task needed to achieve results Requirements & Qualifications Education: • HS Diploma or Equivalent Required Professional Certification(s) or License: • Valid Driver’s License • Copy of DD214, if Veteran status Skills & Abilities: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a pleasant and professional manner • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion • Ability to work well under pressure and handle emergency response • Logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work assignments Experience: • One year of experience • Cruise industry experience preferred Physical: • Ability to conduct work in a marine environment that is subject to some/all the following: confined spaces, uneven surfaces, variations in temperature, wake, and motion • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. • Ability to climb stairs and ladders Other: • Must be at least 21 years of age. • Submit to and pass Viking Alcohol and Drug Policy including but not limited to preemployment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident/incident testing. *Additional requirements may be required depending on the physical needs of the role EEO - Equal Opportunity Employment • Viking River Cruises is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
